North Shore Shark Adventure Revisited

May 2007 Shark Dive
Oh happy days! I finally took my waterproof film in to be developed and am currently in the shark dive zone. Perhaps now having photo proof of the adventure will allude to more drama when one glances visually the shark's "largeness"... or maybe wewill see the safety of the cage and realize how calm and serene such a dive is like. Hooray for safe play!

Since yesterday I've viewed the underwater DVD of the dive a couple times. And many funny memories have been ignited. For example, being trapped in the cage with ATess flailing about while J and I tried desperately to avoid the arms, elbows and feet she had flailing about. Or how about 6 cute, teenage, Japanese tourists who at first glance seemed tough, but in reality spent most of the boat ride shrieking like girls and crying out to be pulled from the cage early. I'm trying my hardest to forget their puking. Turns out Japanese teens don't all have sea legs after all.

It was a fabulous adventure. Something I'd always wanted to do while in grad school but could never afford. The experience definitely was worth waiting. It was definitely worth having to wake up at 5a to be on the North Shore by sun up. Still not sure it was worth the ER visit right afterwards, but then again, I've never had an ER nurse hold up pee and ask me, "shi shi?" (shi shi means pee in Hawaiian) (are you allowed to write that on the internet?)

3 cheers for North Shore Shark Adventures!

THe shark pictures are amazing. Thanks for letting me live vicariously as I would never have guts to shark dive.
